Ultimate Challenge February 19, 2012 FORMAT Baltimore/Washington and one from Hpt. Roads. (The only exception to this will be in the event of an uneven # of teams from the two areas.) All teams will bowl 5 games moving after each game and facing a new opponent each time. You are bowling against the team on your pair only. Each win is worth two points. Total points is what determines placement at the conclusion of round 1. After five games you will be either in the Winner's Bracket (the top 16) or the Loser's Bracket (the bottom 16). ROUND 2: Round 2 in the Winner's Bracket is match play: 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc. Two game elimination. You will bowl the same team the best two out of three. Round 2 in the Loser's Bracket is also match play, but it is ONLY One game elimination: 17 vs 32, 18 vs 31 etc. The eight teams who lose in the Loser’s Bracket in Round two are done for the tournament. ROUND 3: The eight losers in the Winner's Bracket will now face the eight winners in the Loser's Bracket. This round will be single game elimination total pin-fall. Top 8 scores will return Monday morning for the finals. The eight winners in the Winner's Bracket receive a BYE in this round. They will come back on Monday morning for the final sixteen. ROUND 4: The final 16 will bowl Eliminator style. These 16 will bowl 4 games, cut to 8, bowl 2 games, cut to 4, bowl 1 game and cut to 2. The final two teams will bowl the best 2 out of 3. SIDE ACTION: PRIZE FUND BRACKETS: $6.00 (2 div -200 & 200+) 1ST $ 7,500 ELIMINATOR BRACKETS: $10.00 2ND $ 3,000 POKER: $15.00 3RD - 4TH $ 1,500 SIDEPOTS: $15.00 5TH - 8TH $ 1,000 9TH - 16TH $ 625 TOURNAMENT RULES 16 from Balt/Wash and 16 from Hpt. Roads. 2.] All teams must be registered and paid in full by midnight Feb. 12, 2012. 3.] Each team shall consist of five members any combination. Team names are required. No profanity, symbols or sexually suggestive names permitted. 4.] This is a scratch tournament, with a maximum team average not to exceed 1075. 5.] All team members must have a verifiable average using one of the following methods: 21+ games in the 2010-11 year book, OR 21+games in current 2011-12 season. Bowlers will use the higher of the two averages. It is up to the team captain to furnish proof of current average; such as a standing sheet to the director. 6.] Cost is $125 per person / $625 per team. 7.] Top 16 or 50% of the field cash with first place GUARANTEED $7500.00. 8.] All score corrections must be approved by the tourn mgr. 9.] Dress Code is as follows: Collared shirt required with dress jeans or dress slacks. No spandex, T-shirts, hats or head gear of any kind. No foul language or suggestive pictures on any article of clothing. The tournament manager reserves the right to determine what is not acceptable. 10.] First round lane assignments will be on the draw method. All team captains must be present 1 hour (12:00pm) before the tournament commences to draw their lane assignment. This will be on a first come first served basis. Any captain not present will have a lane assigned to him/her by the tourn mgr. 11.] Everyone who makes the final 16 or the top 50% of the field are in the money & will return to bowl on Monday at 9:00 am. Check in will begin at 8:00 am. 12.] Any ties resulting in Round 1 will be broken by total pin-fall. If there is a tie for total pin-fall at the cutline, a 9th and 10th frame will be rolled to determine placement. If there is a tie for total pin-fall to determine who bowls who within their bracket, it will be determined by a coin toss. 13.] Situations arising not covered here-in will be determined by the tournament manager.
